Death of a former commander

On 29 November 1662 confederated Lithuanian soldiers abducted and shot Wincenty Gosiewski. The Lithuanian hetman and treasurer supported John II Casimir1.

A changed conflict

Gosiewski had earlier commanded against Swedish-Brandenburg troops, including at Prostki. He was now killed by soldiers of his own state, a stark example of tensions that survived the Peace of Oliva1.
