From commander to royal opponent

On 6 July 1665 a confederation formed in Lwów to support Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski, previously sentenced to exile. A former commander against Sweden now led opposition to John II Casimir1.

Road to Mątwy

The Polish Army Museum describes this as a prelude to the 1665–1666 rebellion and civil war. The following year royal forces were defeated at Mątwy. These events were separate from the ended war with Sweden12.
