Soldiers demand payment

On 11 September 1661 Lithuanian troops formed the Brotherly Union and demanded overdue pay. Even after peace with Sweden, the Commonwealth still faced the problem of funding its army1.

Further conflict

This was an internal crisis, not a new front against Sweden. The following year soldiers of the confederation abducted and killed Hetman Wincenty Gosiewski1.
