Zenon Piórecki
Original film editor.
Editor of the original version
Zenon Piórecki edited the 1974 Deluge. SFP’s filmography also includes Hands Up!, Matthew’s Days and Znachor1. His original work is distinct from Marcin Kot Bastkowski’s later edit of Potop Redivivus.
The story’s rhythm
Editing connects performances, movement, spaces and the sequence of events. Watch transitions from crowd scenes to conversations and from wide views to the duel. Pace concerns shot duration and relationships between shots, not just total running time.
A tribute in the new edit
Bastkowski described retaining the Kmicic–Wołodyjowski duel as a tribute to Piórecki and the original crew2.
The film guide discusses specific 2014 cuts, the distinction between restoration and re-editing, and conflicting catalogue running times.
